Gaels getting ready to hit the floor

Mar 27, 2009 - 01:59 PM

CLARINGTON -- It won't be long before the ice is out of the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex, and the gears will shift to lacrosse season.

The schedule has be released for the Clarington Green Gaels Junior B lacrosse club and they will open their 2009 campaign on home floor, April 23 against the Markham Ironheads. It's the first of 10 home games on the 20-game regular season slate.

Their road opener comes a night later as the Gaels, coached once again by Jason Crosbie, hit the road to face Orillia.

The final game of the regular season will be June 18 at home against Huntsville, while their final away contest will be June 16 at Markham.

Last season the Gaels had another impressive regular season mark, winning 17 times in 20 games to claim the Mid-East Division crown, while leading the entire Jr. B loop in scoring with 235 goals. They were 9-1 on home floor, and 8-2 on the road and earned a bye into the second round of the playoffs before being defeated by Halton Hills in a five-game series.
