Self defence for kids

Karate camp aimed at kids aged 6 to 14

Mar 19, 2010 - 03:29 PM

AJAX -- Kids will have the opportunity to learn about self defence and mix it with crafts, games and other sports in July.

Todd Sullivan is hosting a karate camp at the Pickering Village United Church in Ajax, aimed at children ages 6 to 14. The camp, which will run for three weeks in July, will concentrate on self defence, anti-bullying techniques and karate fundamentals. Internationally accredited black belts will be teaching karate/self defence and there will be early childhood education instructors on hand to offer arts and crafts, games and sports.

Sullivan is a black belt in karate and one of only a handful of certified personal defence readiness instructors in Canada, and the only one who teaches civilians. The other PDR instructors in Canada instruct police officers and military only.
