KITCHENER -- The Oshawa Generals battled back from an early 4-0 deficit to tie the Kitchener Rangers Friday, but still lost 7-6.
Christian Thomas scored three times in defeat, including the goal that made it 4-4 13:07 into the second period, on a power play.
But the Rangers took the lead again with a short-handed goal just over a minute later and this time did not relinquish it.
Captain Jeff Hayes also had a big game in defeat, with a goal and three assists for the Generals.
Andy Andreoff and Jeff Brown scored the other Oshawa goals.
Matthew Tipoff led a well-balanced Kitchener attack with two goals and an assist.
Kevin Bailie was given the start in goal for Oshawa, but was pulled for Michael Zador after allowing three goals on eight shots.
Zador stopped 40 of 44 shots as the Rangers outshot the Generals 52-34.
The Generals are in Peterborough Saturday before hosting the Barrie Colts at 2:05 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday.
