Feb 04, 2010 - 02:37 PM

CLARINGTON -- The Play-It-Again-Sports Minor Peewee A Clarington Toros team had a great weekend in the NobleKing Challenge Cup, reaching the final before falling short of the title.

The opening game was against a strong team from Woolwich. Clarington spotted the Wildcats a 3-0 lead before coming back to make it a 3-2 loss.

The second game against Caledon was close from start to finish, and ended in a 2-2 tie.

Game three was a must-win against the host team from NobleKing. Clarington took the lead and never gave it up, winning a tight 2-1 game and advancing to the semifinals.

The semifinal opponent was from Nepean, with Clarington starting very strong and remaining that way, capping a 3-2 win.

The final game featured the East Gwillimbury Eagles, which proved to be too much for the tired Clarington team, winning 5-1 to take the championship.

The Toros players are Taylor Rovo, Curtis Laviolette, Spencer Knox, Matt Smith, Jacob Gerber, Gryphon Campbell, Connor McCarthy, Scott Rowland, Steven Walsh, JC Duval, Dylan Bristol, Brian McIntyre, Riley German, Brady Jeffery, Michael Drake, Kurtis Worden and Kyle Mathers.
