UXBRIDGE -- Scott VanAllen's hat trick Tuesday night lifted the Uxbridge Bruins to a 6-4 victory over the Lakefield Chiefs.
Van Allen, who now has 11 goals on the year, scored once in each period for the Bruins, with his third tally coming late in the third on the power play to salt the game away.
Matt McGuckin, Eric Leduc and Patrick Degerdon accounted for the other Uxbridge goals.
Early on, it appeared as though the Bruins might be upset as they allowed a pair of first-period goals in a 20-second span to fall behind 2-0. But VanAllen got the rally started and netminder Stefan Melnychuk held the fort from there, allowing a goal in each of the final two periods.
With the victory, the Bruins sit with a record of 30-6-2, 17 points ahead of the second-place Port Perry MoJacks, which host the Bruins Sunday afternoon at Scugog Arena (1:30 p.m.).
The two teams played each other last Friday in Uxbridge, with the Bruins prevailing 3-1.
Leduc scored a pair of first-period goals and Calum Lynch fired one home on the power play in the third. Melnychuk earned the victory in goal.
Before ending the season Sunday in Port Perry, the Bruins have one more game, Friday night at home to Little Britain.
