Advance through opening round of playoffs

UXBRIDGE -- The Uxbridge Major Atom A Stars, sponsored by Cartcon General Contracting Ltd. and Scotiabank, won the consolation round at the 52nd Peterborough Liftlock Atom Tournament.
The Stars came out strong with a 5-3 win over Peterborough Nationals on the first day. The Waterloo Wolves defeated the Stars 5-1 on day two, but the Stars came back to defeat Nepean Riders White 6-1. The Stars faced Metcalfe/Russle River Rats in the Consolation Championship round and reaped the rewards of team play, winning 7-1. Edmund Truter was named game MVP.
In the Lakeshore A League, the Stars ended the regular season in second place with a 16-4-4 record. The Stars started playdowns with a win over the Pickering Panthers and the Ajax Knights to advance to the next round where they will be facing the Port Perry Predators. The Stars started the series strong with a 3-2 win over the Predators at home. Goals were scored by Edmund Truter, Robert Eliadis and Wyatt LaRoche, assisted by James Shepherd and Connor Lloyd.
The team members are: Mark Melong, Devon Brown, Connor Lloyd, Chris Gilmour, Jericho Petkovich, James Shepherd, Robert Eliadis, Jackson Evans, Scott Stuart, Edmund Truter, Ryan Norris, Wyatt LaRoche, Seth Allison, Caden Warr, Kyle Kincade, Sierra Orschel, Alex Chen and Dawson Whetham. Head coach is Brad Evans, assistant coaches are Cliff Freckelton and Todd LaRoche, trainer is Rob Norris and team manager is Martin Truter.
