CLARINGTON -- Members of the Clarington Recreational Hockey League visited the Big Brothers and Sisters House in Bowmanville recently to donate the proceeds of their Valentine's Day Dance held this winter, in which more than 275 people participated.
The funds will be directed towards the Big Brothers and Sisters of Clarington after school program and a children's Christmas party. The program operates out of Big Brothers Big Sisters house every Wednesday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is open to all the children involved with the agency.
"The after school program gives the kids a fun place to hang out and provides them with the opportunity to complete homework and work in our computer lab," said Darlene Brown, executive director. "This program could not have continued without the support of the CRHL. They are wonderful people and we are greatly appreciative of their support."
The Durham Cruisers Motorcycle Enthusiasts originally funded the after school program five years ago.
