Aug 29, 2008 - 05:33 PM

OSHAWA -- Durham cops closed in on a drug trafficking suspect as he awaited an eastbound train Thursday morning in Oshawa, seizing more than four ounces of cocaine.

Members of Durham’s drug and gang units caught up with the man as he waited on a Via train bound for Kingston, police said. The suspect attempted to flee and struggled with cops when they arrested him at the Bloor Street train station.

Officers seized 120 ounces of cocaine and two grams of marijuana, as well as two cellphones and a little more than $1,000 in cash. The estimated street value of the cocaine is $12,000, police said.

Travest Phillips, 25, of Toronto is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and assaulting police.
