WHITBY -- Oh how things can change in the Ontario Lacrosse Association Jr. A standings from night to night.

Let's go back to Sunday, shall we, where the Whitby Warriors found themselves locked in a tight battle with the Orillia Kings, a game that ended in a second consecutive 7-6 loss for the Warriors, resulting in a bit of a tumble down the standings.

Then on Tuesday, Zack Greer scored twice, including the eventual game winner as Whitby yanked out an 8-7 overtime victory against the St. Catharines Athletics. Back up they went.

For the Warriors, the win on Tuesday night carried them back to third in the standings with 14 points thanks to a 6-4-2 mark.

They sit behind Orangeville, who at 8-1-1 own second place, and Six Nations, who sit comfortably in first with a perfect 11-0 mark.

The victory nearly wasn't for the Warriors, however, as they were forced to overcome a two-goal third period deficit, after the Athletics outscored them 4-1 in the second period, to force the extra frame. The comeback was capped by a Steve Hutchins goal, his team-leading 13th of the year, with 1:34 remaining in regulation.

He then opened the scoring in overtime, while Greer added his second of the game soon after to put the Warriors up two. St. Catharines added one late, but it wasn't enough.

With a week off and time winding down in the season, the Warriors have to really zero in on their tilt with Orangeville next week. In their last meeting, May 25, the two played to a 9-9 tie, and the Warriors will need a victory this time around to have even a remote shot at moving up to second place.

NOTES: Nick Cotter also had two goals Tuesday, while singles went to Brad Levick, Kyle O'Brien and Mitch McMichael... Justin Fox had three helpers, while Joel Weber had two assists and the win in net.
