CALGARY -- Hockey Canada has announced the roster of 51 that will vie for a spot on the nation's U22 women's team.

And there is potential for the blue-line to have a little bit of local flavour to it as Newcastle's Tara Watchorn and Port Perry's Britni Smith have been tabbed for a tryout by head coach Melody Davidson.

The defensive duo will head out to Calgary in a couple week's time for a strength, conditioning and skating camp.

Smith, a second-year defender at St. Lawrence University, posted 3-11-14 numbers and was a plus-17. She is one of 17 players invited to the camp that played on last year's U22 team national team.

Meanwhile, Watchorn is one of 15 players asked to camp that played a part on Canada's U18 women's team that won silver at the IIHF U18 championships in Calgary this past January.

In addition to Smith and Watchorn, it's possible a trio of others with connects to Durham Region could be representing Canada.

Cristin Allen of Pickering, a defender at the University of Connecticut, and member of the 2007-08 U22 team, has been invited to camp, as has Jessica Jones of the Whitby Wolves and Natalie Spooner of the Durham-West Lightning.

The camp runs May 28-31.
