I have been teaching golf at Wooden Sticks for nine years.
Suffice to say I have seen it all when it comes to golf swings. I help Tom, Dick and Harriet with their hook, slice and fade. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to the swings.
Not much surprises me when it comes to peoples' golf swings as I have seen it all. I have seen the worst reverse pivots in the world. I have seen people set up looking like they should slice it and somehow hook the ball.
I have seen people play cross-handed and witnessed one armed golfers that could beat most players. I have seen people hit great and horrible shots minutes apart.
I was just on the phone with a friend of mine that I have never seen golf. She claims to lift her head up a lot. This is something I see a lot and will no way help your game. I could start a top-10 list of swing flaws and each morning I could check them off one at a time.
In golf you are supposed to stay at the same height; to get power you need to transfer your weight back and through. You need to have good balance and correct fundamentals do go a long way in proper execution of a golf shot.
One day I saw a swing that literally defied gravity. Recently, I saw a similar swing in a video of Charles Barkley's. I've met this 16-year veteran of the NBA. He's an athlete and should have a better swing. If you would like to see what not to do, go online and see his swing.
"For Charles Barkley it don't mean a thing if you don't have that swing," says Sir Charles.
So now he is taping a reality show that should improve his swing one episode at a time. The goal: "Fix Charles Barkley's swing."
He took Tiger Woods' suggestion and called his teacher Hank Haney to help.
"It's some ugly (stuff), isn't it? It's not only terrible, it's embarrassing.," he admits, adding he is terrified over the ball and having no idea what is going to happen.
Stay tuned you will be entertained.
