Winterfest returns to Nestleton

Cartwright Sports and Rec winter fun day slated for Feb. 7

Feb 03, 2010 - 12:33 PM

NESTLETON -- A celebration of all things winter-related will be held this weekend when Winterfest 2010 is held at the Cartwright Fields in Nestleton.

Slated to be held Sunday, Feb. 7, the third annual family-friendly event will feature a wide variety of winter activities as it serves as an appreciation event for the community in recognition of its support over the past year.

The inaugural Winterfest event was held in 2008.

Among the activities planned for the day, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m., are ice-skating, hockey and tobogganing, snowman-building, tug-of-war and snowgolf competitions. There will also be a craft corner for children, a book and bake sale, a bonfire to warm up by and horse-drawn wagon rides.

Food and refreshments will be available at the Who'd a Thawed It outdoor stand.

There will be an admission fee of $2 per person, with all proceeds going to Cartwright Sports and Rec.

For more information, visit www.cartwrightfields.ca or call Wilma Wotten at 905-986-4602.
