PICKERING -- While the exact cause of a fire that started in the garage of a building on Liverpool Road in Pickering Sunday afternoon is not yet known, no foul play is suspected, said police.

Inspector Jamie Grant of Durham Regional Police said the blaze at 1990 Liverpool Rd., just south of Finch Avenue, "doesn't appear suspicious", noting initial reports suggest the cause could be electrical.

He wasn't sure if the damage will force the residents out for an extended time, but noted, "there's smoke damage throughout the house." No one was hurt, he added.

Damage is estimated at $100,000, said Insp. Grant.
