OSHAWA -- The contents of the recently-closed General Motors truck plant will be up for auction in a few weeks.

The plant, which shut down May 14, will have some of its contents auctioned off on July 15 and 16. The auction will be carried out online.

It will be run by Maynards Industries, an international auction company with an office in Toronto. According to the company’s website there will be a preview tour of the plant on July 14.

The auction will have more than 400 lots including ABB robots, tool room machinery, jib cranes, welders, iron workers and air compressor and vehicle hoists, according the website.

Canadian Auto Workers plant chairman Greg Moffatt and GM spokeswoman Adria MacKenzie said the auction is a normal part of the decommissioning of a plant.

According to the auction company’s website there is another GM plant auction coming up in Massena, New York. There are also items for sale from plants in Indiana and Michigan.
