OSHAWA -- A local politician wants to see Oshawa rock and roll all night, with 70's rock band Kiss.
Last week, Councillor Robert Lutczyk gave council the heads-up that the band will be mapping out stops on its upcoming North American tour, entirely based on votes that come in to the social networking site Eventful.
Fans will be able to vote for their city to be one of the tour stops, with one vote allowed per person. To make the competition fair for small cities, population size will be weighed against total votes.
"This has nothing to do with whether you like this band or this particular type of music," Coun. Lutczyk said. "It's about raising our profile nationally and internationally."
Council is encouraging Oshawa residents -- particularly students -- to get online and vote.
Fans can cast their votes and check the tallies at www.eventful.com/kiss. As of this week, Winnipeg, Kingston and Calgary held the top three spots.
