Aug 21, 2008 - 04:29 AM

OSHAWA -- Durham Regional Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two men who are believed to have snatched a suitcase filled with $400,000 worth of jewelry after a display show on Saturday night.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, just after 6 p.m., officers were called to the Oshawa Centre at 419 King St. W. for a report of a robbery.

Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victims, who said they had just packed up after finishing a jewelry display show. They said they had used the service stairwell to return to the main floor, when two men accosted them and grabbed the suitcase. They were last seen fleeing the parking lot in a dark-coloured minivan.

The value of the stolen jewelry is estimated at $400,000.

The first suspect is described as white, about five foot 10, with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-coloured baseball hat and dark clothing.

The second suspect is described as having tan skin. He is about five foot four to five foot five with a stocky build. He was wearing a white shirt with blue jeans.

The vehicle is described as a grey minivan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Mike Horrocks or Detective Constable Paul Stuart of the Major Crime Robbery Unit at 1-888-579-1520, ext. 5355. Anonymous tips can be made at Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward.
