OSHAWA -- The Oshawa Centre lottery kiosk has been busier than ever this week, as customers clamour to buy tickets for Wednesday's $43 million Lotto 6-49 draw.
"It's been non-stop," lottery kiosk manager Anne-Marie Storey said. "We've been extremely busy for the last two days. Today we've had three times the normal amount of people."
The biggest lottery jackpot in history was a $54.3 million prize won by a group of 17 oil and gas workers from Alberta in October 2005. The second-largest jackpot of $43.2 million could be surpassed with this Wednesday's draw, said a news release from Western Canada Lottery Corporation.
Because of the large jackpot, people who don't normally play are buying tickets. Ms. Storey said she's seen an abundance of new customers over the last two days, and her regular customers are spending more money than usual.
The unofficial numbers for the Lotto 6/49 draw for August 6, 2008, are: 10, 18, 22, 26, 34 & 38. Bonus 39. All tickets should be checked at an official terminal.
