WHITBY -- Bob the ducky, you're the one.

Bob was the name one of our young readers chose for This Week's little yellow friend. This Saturday Bob and thousands of his plastic pals will be released into Lynde Creek in D'Hillier Park and will race downstream to the finish line.

The ducks have been waiting all year for this race. They have been training hard because the first eight win cash prizes. There is $3,000 up for grabs. The first of the fake waterfowl to make it across the creek will win $1,500. Second prize is $750, third is $250 and there will be five additional $100 rewards for fourth to eight place.

But first they will compete to see which ducks will make it downstream. This year the group selling the tickets printed off 8,000 tickets for residents to buy. Last year the tickets sold out.

Proceeds from this event are to offset the costs for games at the Town Carnival that takes place at the end of June.

Children can enjoy games from 10 a.m. until race time at 1 p.m. Attractions include jumping castles, face painting, kids games and prizes.

Rain or shine the little birds will be out to wade through the creek, because it's always lovely weather for ducks.
