Lions Club of North Oshawa and Motor City Car Club presents the 8th annual soap box derby on Bond Street between Centre and Arena streets in downtown Oshawa from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.
BBQ In The Park in support of the Hospital for Sick Kids Foundation is held from noon to 3 p.m. in Grass Park in Brooklin.

The Rotary Club of Port Perry hosts the 2008 edition of its ‘Aquarama’ fundraiser on the waters of Lake Scugog, just off the shores of Palmer Park. Registration runs 9:30 to 11 a.m. and the races will go from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants must raise at least $75 in pledges and all donations will go support the Special Olympics Torch Run, as well as provide for the needs of local and international underprivileged children, including those with disabilities. A chicken barbecue will be held at the Scugog Island United Church, with sittings at 5 and 6 p.m. The menu will feature chicken, corn-on-the-cob, baked potatoes and pie. Tickets are $12.50 for adults, $5 for children aged six to 12. Those five and younger are free.
