PICKERING -- Toronto bound rush hour traffic along Hwy. 401 will be heavy this morning due to a flipped tractor trailer that spilled peat moss along the highway in Pickering.
The express lanes from Whites Rd. to Nielson Rd. in Toronto will be closed in both directions between Whites Road in Pickering west to Neilson Road in Toronto until around 10 a.m.
The collector lanes remain open but drivers should expect delays along the road because of the spill.
“It’s going to be really difficult to clean up,” said OPP. Sgt. Julia McCuaig.
The tractor flipped and spilled the moss at around 3 a.m. and clean-up crews arrived around 5 a.m. No one was injured, said McCuaig.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid this stretch of the 401 if they can.
“Find the alternative,” said McCuaig, “any alternative route that you can think of for this morning.”
