Family butterfly hikes July 31

July 27, 2008 - 04:25

DURHAM -- Families looking for a fun summer activity are in luck on July 31.

Staff from Central Lake Ontario Conservation will be leading two butterfly hikes through Heber Down Conservation Area in Whitby.

The tours start at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. and are free. However, registration is required as space is limited.

Hikers are encouraged to dress for the weather, wear walking shoes and bring bug spray, because mosquitoes are also a part of nature.

The hikes will start from the group camping parking lot and last for about two hours.

To get to the group camping parking lot take Brock Street in Whitby to Taunton Road, turn west and travel to Country Lane Road. Turn right on to Country Lane Road and travel to Lyndebrook Road, turn right and the parking lot is on the left side of the road.

To register or for more information, contact Cathy Grant at 905-579-0411, ext. 108, or e-mail cgrant@cloca.com.
