There are ways to encourage your child to be active without the pressure of competing. Find non-competitive physical activity programs like those offered through the YMCA or other community recreational centres such as:

. Swimming

. Horseback riding

. Dance

. Inline skating

. Cycling

. Cheerleading

. Skateboarding

. Hiking

. Golf

. Tennis

. Fencing

. Gymnastics

. Martial arts

. Yoga

. Aerobics

. Ultimate Frisbee

. Running

. Trampoline

. Rock climbing

. Get back to the "FUNdamentals" - "Canadian Sport for Life" is an initiative supported by Sport Canada that is designed to put the fun in being active, and teach kids and parents about long-term athlete development and lifelong physical activity (visit   www.ltad.ca).

You can also find Tips and Tools to Help You Move More as part of the Long Live Kids program on the Concerned Children's Advertisers' website at www.cca-kids.ca. For the Public Health Agency of Canada's Physical Activity Guide for Children and Youth go to   www.paguide.com or call 1-888-334-9769.
