OSHAWA -- Police have tracked down the drivers believed to be involved in two fail-to-remain incidents Wednesday morning in Oshawa.
In one incident, a woman was hospitalized after being struck by a car, while in the other a number of Oshawa residents were left in the dark after a utility pole was struck, Durham police said.
- The first incident occurred at about 3 a.m. when residents in the vicinity of Rossland Road and Brookside Drive were awakened by the sound of a crash, police said. The driver of a large black vehicle paused after hitting a hydro pole and a stop sign, then drove off westbound on Rossland.
About half an hour later, police found a damaged vehicle in a commercial parking lot in the area of Garden Street and Taunton Road, near the Whitby police station. Paramedics were treating the driver for minor injuries.
A 32-year-old Ajax resident was arrested and impaired driving charges are pending, police said.
The crash cut power to 11 homes in the Rossland and Brookside area. Rossland was closed for a few hours as workers made repairs.
- At about 6:40 a.m., a 20-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle at Rossland Road and Simcoe Street. The vehicle continued south on Simcoe, police said. The pedestrian was treated at hospital for minor injuries.
Later Wednesday morning, the female driver turned herself in at a Durham police station. The investigation continues.
Call police at 905-579-1520, extension 1768, with information on either incident.
