BOWMANVILLE -- Theft charges have been laid against two Clarington men who allegedly teamed up to boost a box full of change donated to charity in Bowmanville.
Durham cops said two men walked into a Mac's Milk on Mearns Avenue at about 10 a.m. Jan. 17, apparently with the heist planned out: one distracted the clerk while the other concealed a donation box under his clothing. The two left without making a purchase but were soon tracked down by police.
The box contained about $20 in donations made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Andrew Benson, 34, of Concession 9, and 37-year-old Jeffrey Watson, of Elgin Street, are charged with theft.
