Three busted in Courtice school vandalism spree

Jun 30, 2009 - 11:11 AM

COURTICE -- Three teenagers have been charged after police responding to a break-in report collared suspects near a Courtice school early Friday.

An estimated $5,000 in damage was caused by vandals who broke into Lydia Trulls Public School on Avondale Drive and defaced property with graffiti, police said. Suspects gained entry to the main school building and a portable during the incident.

Durham officers responding to a report of a break-in at about 1:30 a.m. Friday nabbed two suspects after a foot pursuit and further investigation led to the arrest of a third youth.

Three Clarington boys, two aged 16 and the other 17, have been charged. Their identities are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
