Bowmanville school receives eco-accreditation
BOWMANVILLE -- St. Stephen's Secondary School has received silver certification as an EcoSchool.
To become certified, the school formed Eco-Teams that took on a variety of initiatives to reduce waste and conserve energy. The teams documented their successes and applied for certification in the spring. They were required to provide supporting materials to show the impact of their work.
"The Ontario EcoSchools program empowers students to affect positive change in their schools and communities," said Catholic board education director John Mackle.
St. Stephen's was one of four board schools to be certified; the others are in Lindsay, Lakefield and Norwood.
