BOWMANVILLE -- Sandra Blandford was at the front desk at First Choice Haircutters on King Street East in Bowmanville when suddenly she heard what sounded like a "loud crash of thunder."
She had her head down as she worked.
"As soon as I heard it ...I just turned and ran," Ms. Blandford said.
When the dust cleared, an SUV's front tires were in the salon, the window smashed, even the brickwork below the window caved in.
It was a miracle no one was injured in the crash, she said.
"Thankfully, nobody was sitting in the chairs, waiting for a hair cut," Ms. Blandford said. "Ten minutes before that, there were four people sitting at the front of the store."
Ms. Blandford called 911, but a police officer was already on scene.
"An ambulance was called, just to check on the people involved," Durham police spokesman David Selby said.
No damage estimate was immediately available.
"There were no injuries, just property damage," Mr. Selby said.
Cause of the accident is not yet known.
