BOWMANVILLE -- Chainsaw juggling and a 10-foot unicycle will highlight an evening of fun for the whole family during the annual Midnight Madness and Busker Festival in downtown Bowmanville on Friday, Aug. 15.
Many downtown stores will be open until at least 11 p.m.
Headlining the Busker Festival are Dr. Kaboom!, who performs feats of magic, balance and juggling, and Dynamike, who rides a 10-foot unicycle and juggles chainsaws. Both performances include a spectacular fire act.
A new feature this year is the "Taste of Bowmanville" celebration, which will showcase more than a dozen downtown restaurants. The event features cafe-style dining outside downtown restaurants and professional musicians.
The foods of Greece, Ireland, China, Austria, Mexico, Holland, Korea and North America will be showcased. Look for the signpost at each restaurant, displaying the evening's specialty.
As well, the Bowmanville Lions Club will be on hand, serving hot dogs, sausages and hamburgers.
Special attractions for the kids include the Teddy Bear Clinic, pony rides, jumping castles, Clarington Fire Department demonstrations, facepainting and mini-putt. As well, look for the tiger and other guests from Bowmanville Zoo in the King Street East parking lot. Balloon artists will be giving away free balloon characters and Discovery Church will host a Dunk Tank.
Tickets will be available for free draws for BIA downtown shopping money from the Madness Man at the corner of King and Temperance streets. An early bird draw will take place at 7 p.m., a 10th hour draw will be held at 10 p.m. and a "Last Chance Draw" will be held the following day.
King Street is closed to traffic from 6 to 11 p.m. Parking and admission are free.
