COURTICE -- A Clarington man is dead after being struck by a car Saturday night in Courtice.
Durham police said the victim, 51-year-old James Darrell Hall of Birchfield Drive, was struck while attempting to cross the four-lane Hwy. 2 near Varcoe Road at about 8:30 p.m.
It was dark and raining at the time of the collision, police said. An off-duty paramedic stopped to assist the man, who was coherent and speaking at the accident scene, police said.
Mr. Hall was transported to hospital and later succumbed to his injuries. Police continue to investigate.
