SUNDERLAND -- All is fair in fun and games.
The 157th Sunderland Fall Fair is set to begin Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. and continue through Wednesday, Sept. 10 and promises "enticing bright lights, colourful rides, games and vendors" according to a release on the event.
The festivities will take place at the Sunderland fairgrounds, near the arena on Park Street.
Tuesday evening events include a 4-H tractor pull, spelling bee and pet show, and visitors will have a chance to meet the new fair ambassadors.
Also lined up for the event is a heavy horse pull, as well as a display of antique automobiles. A parade of school children from McCaskill's Mills and Sunderland Public schools begins 11 a.m. on Wednesday "leaving the rest of the day for all to view and learn about the rich agricultural heritage of Brock Township by visiting the livestock shows, gathering popsicle sticks at a variety of stations throughout the fairgrounds, touring the historical museum and seeing a huge array of exhibits," reads the release.
A demolition derby will wrap up the entertainment at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A prize book is posted on www.agfair.ca outlining opportunities for entries in a number of classes. Entries are to be received Sept. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sept. 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the arena office. A full schedule of fair events is also posted on the above-mentioned website.
