Bank hosts Sick Kids Hospital barbecue

Aug 18, 2008 - 01:14 PM

Buying a burger or hot dog at Scotiabank in Cannington next Friday could help save the life of a child.

The branch is hosting a barbecue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with all proceeds going to the Sick Kids Foundation, a leader in children's health, research and care. The organization invests $4 million annually across Canada for pediatric research, healthcare programs and equipment.

This is the second year the branch has hosted such an event.

"Last year we were pleased to donated over $5,600 to the Foundation, and this year we are hoping to do the same," said Cheryl Beckett, a customer service representative with the branch.

In addition to the barbecue, those making a donation can sign their name on a paper teddy bear that will be displayed in the bank.

The New Chay's Community Cruiser will be at the bank from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and face-painting will be offered for kids.
