WHITBY -- An act of vandalism has shaken a resident of a quiet rural neighbourhood off Hwy. 2, west of Brock Street in Whitby.
Chyvonne Bent was watching television at her house on Bell Drive at about 11 p.m. on Friday when she said she saw a group of teenagers jumping on the roof of her car, which was parked on the road.
The group fled and she chased after them -- first by vehicle and then on foot -- until a confrontation ensued in the Central Park area near her home.
There were four males and at least one girl who she said appeared to be between 16-18 years old and visibly intoxicated at the time. The teenagers denied involvement and after about five minutes, fled again in different directions.
The dealership that reviewed the caved roof of Ms. Bent's car estimated more than $6,000 in damages, which she said is more than what the car itself is worth.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to call Durham Regional Police at 905-579-1520 or anonymous information can be sent to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
