Have Your Say on development charges

May 12, 2008 - 10:11 AM

We asked: Should residential taxpayers continue to subsidize the servicing of industrial lands, or should industry pay for half as Durham Region is proposing?

Our taxes are already too high for the services we receive. Yes, industry should be paying for more and its own share for sure. Clarington taxes are said to be paid for in large part by residents - with St. Mary’s Cement and OPG/Darlington Nuclear in our midst you would think their share would be substantial. I vote for any proposal which gets industry to pay more of their share, and invites more industry or office/commercial to the region.

Dawn Chaffe, Clarington
