Watermain break in Whitby neighbourhood

Feb 03, 2010 - 10:34 AM

WHITBY -- A major watermain break led to the shutting down of water supply to a Whitby neighbourhood for most of Wednesday, according to the Region's works department.

Residents in the vicinity of Dundas Street West from 100 metres east of Fothergill Court to Lakeridge Road are affected. This includes people living on Fothergill Court, Bluebell Crescent, Coronation Road, Halls Road North, Cresser Avenue, Churchill Avenue, Almond Avenue and Queens Road.

The water supply is to be shut down for about nine hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow repairs of the watermain.

When the water is reinstated, residents are being instructed to turn on the cold water tap only and let it run for about five to 10 minutes to avoid any sediment entering the hot water system.
