OSHAWA -- A traffic stop in Oshawa Tuesday led to the recovery of thousands of dollars worth of property that police allege was bought with counterfeit credit cards.
A Durham police officer became suspicious when he pulled over a vehicle linked to an earlier theft at an Ajax electronics store and the driver produced a California driver's licence and a Government of Canada identification card. A search of the vehicle, which was stopped on Simcoe Street North, led to the discovery of a quantity of electronics including a laptop and GPS equipment.
The suspect was arrested and police obtained a search warrant for his home on Waverly Street North, where they seized more than $30,000 in furniture and electronics allegedly purchased with phony credit cards.
Kevin Harris, 45, of Waverly Street North in Oshawa faces several fraud-related charges.
