PORT PERRY -- Registration is now taking place for children's programs at Scugog Memorial Public Library.
The library is bringing back its popular lineup of pre-school programs and has a new one, in conjunction with Ontario Early Years.
The programs are:
Parent and Tot -- For ages one to three. Songs, stories, movement activities, 11:15 to 11:45 a.m.
Preschool Story Time -- A 45-minute session for children ages three to five, stories, songs, take-home crafts. 10:30 to 11:15 a.m.
Tech for Tots -- Basics of computer skills for ages 3 to 5, through educational websites. 10 to 10:30 a.m.
Preschool programs are offered on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings (pick one) from Sept. 16 to Oct. 16. Call 905-985-7686 or visit the library, 231 Water St., to register.
The new program is designed to provide parents with an understanding of their child's learning potential and abilities, promote language development, learn links to community programs and have fun with their baby. You can also create a book with your child. Sacha Farrell, early literacy specialist with Ontario Early Years, leads this three-session program for babies from birth to 12 months and their families. This runs Mondays from Sept. 15 to 29 at 10 a.m. Call the library to register.
All programs are free with the exception of Tech for Tots, which costs $10 for each session.
