Writers' Circle welcomes Bill Howell
Feb 07, 2010 - 04:30 AM
DURHAM -- Bill Howell shares some of his wisdom in Whitby on Feb. 13.
He is the Writers' Circle of Durham Region's guest at the group's annual breakfast meeting at 8:30 a.m. at J. P. Fitzpatrick and Son Restaurant, 75 Consumers Rd., in the Whitby Entertainment Centrum.
A CBC Radio drama producer-director for almost three decades, Howell's plays have earned ACTRA and international awards with series such as Air Farce and Nightfall. Howell is also an award-winning poet and his collections include The Red Fox (1971), Moonlight Saving Time (1990) and Porcupine Archery, released last year.
Howell is speaking on the 'poetry of the colloquial'.
After the meeting, David Drane leads a mini workshop: If It Didn't Happen, Why Do I Remember it So Clearly?, which explores the difference between fact and memory.
All are welcome at the WCDR's breakfast meetings. The cost is $15 for members and $20 for guests, including breakfast.
To attend, register online at www.wcdr.org, by phone at 905-686-0211 or by e-mail at breakfast@wcdr.org by Feb. 11.
