Scrap the Long Gun Registry. This has been the biggest and most expensive embarrassment for Canada since the cancellation of the Avro Arrow. It has done nothing to reduce violent crime, the police don’t use it with any semblance of confidence (despite what we’ve been told) and it makes it easier to punish the law-abiding citizens for ridiculous paper crimes which, sadly, happens more frequently then the punishing of violent offenders.

I think a priority for 2008 should be scrapping the firearms registry. We were told by the Liberals it would cost $2 million; its now around $2 billion and has not solved or prevented a single crime. This system is costly and useless. The claims the police use it 5,000 times daily are misleading as any time a name, address or license plate number is entered in the computer an automatic check is made...even for a simple speeding ticket. The registry is not licensing. Licensing will remain, the registry should not!

I think the government needs to crack down on crime in the new year and also, I believe it needs to scrap both the long gun registry and the handgun registry. The gun registries have been nothing but a waste of tax dollars and have done nothing to keep anyone safe.

Bring our troops home. We are proven peacekeepers, not warlords. Make polluters pay for clean up if they pollute. Stop SPP (security prosperity partnership) of 30 CEOs from dictating policy to our governments. Public hospitals and not private, for profit hospitals. Public hospitals are far cheaper, cleaner, and more efficient. Clean the environment as it is killing people. Pass a national water bill to protect our fresh water in lakes, rivers, and aquafers from world-wide corporations that sell it for huge profits because water is a human right. Stop World Bank from insisting on privatizing water systems before they lend money to nations. They are supposed to help poor nations. Scrap Free Trade deal and make a fair trade deal. Free Trade does not work. It cost Canada $1 billion!!!!!
