Have Your Say on Snowplowing
December 16, 2007
Here's what you had to say about snowplowing across Durham Region after the first big storm of the season on Dec. 16, 2007:
This is to comment on the Snow Plows in the neighborhood of Southridge St. After spending an hour chipping the snow plow drift from the end of my driveway with todays storm, I come in to warm up for a few minutes to have another plow come by and push another 1.5' drift at the end of my driveway. This to me is unacceptable. There has to be a solution to this problem. While the fact remains that I am younger then some it is still not right that I now have to go out and dig my self out again. The plows do have wing blades on them and I see no reason why the plow operators cannot use them as they are designed and NOT continuously barracade residents into their own driveways. True it may add a bit of time to their day by having to do so, but they are hourly employees so I don't really see how they would be too put out by this.
Some solution needs to be reached for all areas of the city as I am sure that I am not the only one that has issues with this. I know that residents living on courts within Oshawa have made a successful appeal to the City to have the plow operators do the courts in the opposite direction so as to place the snow in the middle of the court. If a solution can be reached for those residents I dont see the reason why other residents have to constantly dig themselves out of the own driveways.
I await some reply to this with some possible solution. I am "Prepared to be amazed" and have a member of city council step up and help do something to ease the burden of snow removal for the residents of Oshawa.
