Small business growing in Oshawa

Nov 11, 2009 - 08:14 AM

OSHAWA -- A new report puts Oshawa in the top five communities in Canada for small business growth.

The report, from BMO Financial Group, says Oshawa has experienced rapid population growth over the past five years, due to affordable housing, diverse services and a strong industrial base.

It notes that UOIT has acted as a small business incubator, while direct access to an international airport, low development costs and a skilled workforce also contributed to small business growth in the city.

BMO recently announced it will make $1 billion available to lend small- and medium-sized businesses across Canada, to help them recover from the recession, and expand.
