Annandale junior mixed curlers off to provincials

Club hosts St. Pat's Mixed on Saturday

PICKERING -- Annandale won the A side of the Regional Junior Mixed Playdown in Fenelon Falls on the weekend.

Josh Hall teamed up with Spencer Anderson, James McPherson and Yvonne Lalonde and coach Donna Hall to now advance to Marmora at the end of March to compete in the Provincial Finals. Michael Bryson, with the team of Emily Lindsay, Sandy Martin and Carly Bee with coach John Lindsay also played in the Regional but were sidelined in the B side semifinal.

Last weekend, Tim March of Annandale with Julie Weagle, Patrick Jenssen and Debra Bently, advanced to the Regional Mixed Playdown in the Whitby Curling Club. The team was sidelined in the B side quarterfinals. Rob Lobel representing Thornhill won the A side. They advance to Beaverton in April to decide a Provincial Champion. The winner there will wait out the chance to represent Ontario Nov. 15-22, 2009 at the Burlington Golf and Country Club for the Canadian Mixed Championship.

Laura Arbour, Chris Avery, Kristy Hurst and Jake McGhee with coach Jennifer McGhee for Annandale competed in the Bantam Mixed Regional in Fenelon Falls March 7 -8. The team was sidelined as was an Annandale member, Ben Bevan, who was skipping a Whitby team.

This weekend, Annandale will hold the Annual St. Pat's Mixed on Saturday. It includes three six-end games, snacks, lunch, dinner, dance and prizes. There are two morning draw times of 8:30 and 10.
