Arrest warrants issued for armed suspects in Manilla store hold-up

OPP looking for three Oakwood men

Jan 12, 2009 - 10:28 AM

MANILLA -- Arrest warrants have been issued for three Oakwood men police believe are linked to a trio of armed robberies over the past month, including a heist carried out just north of the Scugog border.

Ontario Provincial Police announced on Friday that they executed a search warrant at a Hwy. 7 address in Oakwood earlier that morning and subsequently issued arrest warrants for three men they believe are connected to a string of hold-ups at rural convenience stores.

Wanted are Justin Edward Battle, 25; Cory Ronald Crockatt, 27; and Karl George Michael Battle, 24. All men are from the Oakwood area, say police.

Authorities at the Kawartha Lakes OPP detachment believe the trio is connected to a series of armed robberies that targeted corner stores in the north Durham and City of Kawartha Lakes areas.

On Jan. 5, armed bandits made off with cash and cigarettes from the Manilla General Store and the Killarney Bay Variety Store was targeted two days later, on Jan. 7, say police.

Authorities also believe an armed robbery that took place in Cannington in December 2008 is also connected.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kawartha Lakes OPP at 705-324-6741.
